In Case You Missed It: Dreams Soar Launched May 13 From Daytona Beach International Airport
Excitement and pride filled the warm Florida air on Saturday, May 13, 2017. The official Dreams Soar event took place beginning at 10:00 am, with founder and pilot, Shaesta Waiz wheels up for her global journey at 12:11 pm local time. The cloudy skies could not stop approximately 100 of our donors, partners, and supporters from witnessing this incredible and historic flight launch. The aircraft hangar at Sheltair Aviation Services at Daytona Beach International Airport was buzzing as guests enjoyed refreshments provided by Krispy Kreme Donuts, activities, a photo booth, and gifts from our generous partners. Sponsored by AlphaGraphics Daytona Beach, the decaling of the aircraft was unveiled for the first time for all attendees to witness. After Shaesta departed, several gifts were raffled off including three Bose SoundLink products and FlightAware t-shirts.

It was a very special and emotional day for all the Dreams Soar team, and we extend our most heartfelt thanks to everyone who continues to support the Dreams Soar mission over the next 90 days. We invite you to follow Shaesta’s flight path either on the live tracking through our website, or access her flight track by creating a free FlightAware account referencing N364ER. Please continue to follow her journey on our website and social media pages!

Making It All Happen: Our Team and Partners
How did the Dreams Soar team pull together a large scale launch event? With the help of all of our partners of course! We would like to thank Continental Motors, Honeywell, MSK Concepts, FlightAware, and Bose for their donated gift items. We would also like to thank Krispy Kreme for providing 25 dozen donuts for the event. Our signage, banners and aircraft decaling were all provided by AlphaGraphics Daytona Beach and Staples Daytona Beach.

Last but not least, our deepest gratitude for Sheltair Aviation Services, our home FBO partner. The team at Sheltair Aviation has become an extended family to Dreams Soar. With their support, the Dreams Soar teams were given a place to plan, implement and execute the global solo flight around the world. Thank you Sheltair Aviation KDAB, general manager Arvin Weese, and team for your dedication and support of this program.

Thank you all for helping to make dreams soar!

The Commemorative Naming of Dreams Soar’s First Flight Leg
The Florida Aviation Business Association (FABA) named the first leg of the global flight from KDAB to KCMH in honor of the late Jerrie Mock. In spring 1964, Jerrie Mock was the first woman to fly solo around the world in her Cessna 180, nicknamed “Charlie.” Jerrie was Shaesta’s greatest mentor and provided a wealth of inspiration for Shaesta and her flight. Shaesta honored Jerrie by making her hometown of Columbus, Oh. the first stop on her journey. Jerrie has been named the guardian of Dreams Soar. We would like to thank FABA for supporting this flight leg in Jerrie’s honor. Watch the video of FABA board members and Shaesta placing the flight leg decal on the aircraft prior to departure here!
“N364ER, Cleared for Takeoff” Flight leg CMH to CYUL named for WAI Spirit of Columbus Chapter
As Shaesta departs Columbus, Oh. for Montreal, Canada, the Women in Aviation (WAI) Spirit of Columbus Chapter will place their flight leg decal on the aircraft in recognition and support of Dreams Soar. Thank you for supporting the Dreams Soar mission and keeping Jerrie Mock’s legacy alive! Take a look at the special video created by our team to honor the WAI Spirit of Columbus Chapter.

3. Aviation in Ohio contributes more than $10 billion in economic activity to the Ohio economy, and to more than 142,000 jobs.
Weather Diversion & Donor Support
As Shaesta climbed out of Jacksonville airspace and onto KCMH for all the welcoming and support of our amazing outreach teams and Jerrie Mock’s family in Columbus OH, we humbly thank and show our gratitude for long-time donor, Michael Friese, who Saturday in a pinch, secured Shaesta’s hotel and even covered the top off needed at Sky Harbor FBO. It’s stories and donors like Michael who’ve made this journey so incredibly humbling and rewarding. We thank you Michael & Tracy Friese for always having our backs no matter what! Oh and more literally, they also donated the seat cushion for Shaesta’s back support!
